Looks good, I had a similar 1420 model and it rode pretty good for an aluminum frame its age.

They're the original Matrix. I also just installed a set of 44cm Cinelli Altera's with new bar tape. Those in the pic are the original's with orivinal leather wrap. This bike has crazy low miles. It's super sano.

She is on the shelf until I can finance some better winter riding gear. I feel so out of shape.

Yeah, I guess some of the hard core roadies would say that is a sin, but I've got it tuned where I can use all of the cassette in the big chain ring without any rub. And it has a compact crank (50/34) so it doesn't put as much stress on the derailluer as a full size crank would.

My recently aquired late 58cm 1980's Serotta with Columbus SLX tubing. Bought a few about 5 or 6 weeks ago as a frame/fork/ & headset,......it was sent to Joe Bell back in 1994 by the previous owner for the still wonderfull paintjob.
Currently running a 1x8 with old school Dura Ace 7402 rear derailleur, DA 7402 8 speed downtube shifter mounted up top on a Paul "Thumbie", DA 7400 bottom bracket and crankset, DA 7700 group duel pivot brake calipers, DA 7400 hubs on Matrix ll rims and Gaterskin 700x28c tires for my everyday more durable wheelset.(pics show it with a set of Cane Creek Aerohead wheels & titanium spokes, but less spoke count so i use them less)

Some men ask why??? I ask: "Why NOT?"
Seriously, at 56 i'm not a racer, and bent over the bars like a prezzle trying to convey a racer image is not my idea of fun. I bike for fun and to grab a bite to eat, light shopping, etc.,....practicle reasons the racing mentality is at odds with. Travel around the world and you'll see more setup like this than the foolish (IMO) marketing of uncomfortable racing bikes in the USA.
NO. i'm not Grant Peterson's son , but we are of similiar minds when it comes to biking in the US. Comfort is job one.
Also, my neck has been developing some arthritus over the years, and i crack it a lot to loosen up. Long bent over rides aggrivate it, so every bike i have is set up in similar fashion.
"Wolf" all you want, but when i take a ride i'm comfortable, and get to SEE a lot more of what we bike for.
Yep,...but until you pointed it out i didn't know i made the JA thread! So how could i have known before i posted here?
Frankly, i don't have time or much care what other folks think, i only have to please one person and i'm practicle. I'm 56 i've never smoked, ...well, save for that time at 16 when i tried one and gagged and choked! If you get past that stage, i have to wonder "WHY" there more!
I'm not one to follow the crowd and bow to peer pressure, so you won't find my a$$ bent over in pain but showing the world how fast or cool i am.
BTW, the cockpit of this Serotta was shown in another thread to illustrate the emergency cash storage in the stem riser, simply that.
This thread is showing the "bike" (an 8 geared setup in a thread requesting pics of geared bikes) I don't see why you would not see the difference, let alone comment on that minute point?
Oh, i'd have been proud to have hung this fine looking Serotta frameset on the wall rather than use it in "traditional" (bent over) fashion in the US. But i'd much rather enjoy riding it in a way that makes sense to me.
As a $525.00 BIN (+only $25 shipping) on ebay with several bidders on it and up to $375 already with 2 days to go, i thought it a STEAL when the $600 paint job and rear spacing reset to 130mm was factored in!
So rather than mess around at the end and "maybe" save a few pennies, i did what i bet every one of the other bidders wished they had!

no offense but, didnt we JUST see that whole cockpit scenario in the JA thread?
