At wits end with Kilo TT.

VERY very sorry for a new thread but I am without a bike at the moment I am ready to sell my new Kilo TT pro because the handle bars feel too close to the seat (pushed all the way back still nothing), and too low. Is there a way to extend the reach of the bars and raise them at the same time (without making the bike look awful and freakish?) or do I just need to but a larger bike (all other aspects of fit are fine, but I could ride something a bit larger)? Is this just how the TT is made?

you could try getting a longer stem and run it flipped upward. but it sounds like the frame is just too small for you.

Apparently going to your local bike shop is still not an option?

I would have asked how tall he is, and what size bike he got first. Or just called him a troll.

Didn't you say earlier you had the bars set too high? 6__ 9

Given the size you gave for yourself and the bike in that other thread, I don't think your bike is too small for you. If you feel too cramped then buy a stem with a longer reach.

Edit: you may want to just take it to a bike shop. Not meant to insult, but given how little you apparently know about bikes, you may be imagining a problem where there isn't one. On the other hand, if you really do need a longer stem, (or anything) a shop will be able to get one for you. It's a win/win situation.

There is way too much pressure on on my hands and wrists which is the main reason of my inability to keep the bike. I am 5'3 with a 29.5" inseam. Frame size is 47cm. The shop said it was "ok" (but I have to find a new LBS.) Yeah its not too small, but I certainly think given the kilos geometry I needed perhaps the 50cm to be comfortable. Im sure the size I have now is alright, but I am thinking that I need the handlebar at least another inch away from my me. and raised 1-3 inches. At first I thought they were too high but I realize now they are too close (and ironically too low).

If you want your track bike, which was not built for comfort, to be comfortable, you're gonna have to make some sacrifices.

1) Post a pic.

2) Go to a bike shop. There are dozens of stem length x angle options. There is no way in hades that you will guess the right one for you right now. So, that means you are going to waste your money experimenting. If you go to a shop, they have every stem option in stock for fitting purposes. Find the one that works and buy it once.

This buy-online DIY culture gets really stupid sometimes. Seriously. It's like, "Oh my god. My soda doesn't taste the way I want. I hear that there is a soda called 'Coke'. I think I'm gonna order one online and wait 2 weeks for it to arrive and pay the same price that I would pay at the corner gas station PLUS shipping."

Noir Lethal, I'm not calling you stupid, per say. It's just that Option #1 seems to ALWAYS be Buy Online and the very last resort is Option #99 Go to a bike shop.

I'm 5'10"+ and have a 50cm Kilo--perhaps a bit small if I want to ride the drops, but with the stock bars flopped and chopped it's perfect.

^ No offense but that just seems far fetched. I'm 5'11"/average and my 53 feels a little cramped on longer rides, even when I use my longer stem & risers.

Seriously dude, it fits great. I'm 5'10", skinnier than you (I've seen the pic), so maybe that helps with not feeling cramped. My longer rides are typically not more than 20 miles, so maybe I'm not putting in the miles on the FG that you are. If I know the ride is going to be more than 20 miles, I usually get out my roadie.

EDIT: I am planning on getting one of the lugged Kilos, and will be getting a 53 so I feel more comfy in the drops. Maybe I'll change my mind about how well the 50 fits me.

im 5'7" With about a 29.5" inseam, and also ride a 47. Even with a super short MTB stem and risers, i dont feel cramped on longer rides. Go to a shop, have them help you try out some other stem/bar combos to see if that helps.

That's the thing...I was convinced my 53 was close to perfect until I got my Premium Brew (which is slightly larger). My Kilo instantly became too small.

That was a typo. It's been a long day.

I measure in around 5'10 3/4" and usually just say 5'11".

Not at all. I got a longer VO stem and it feels a little better.

I almost hate to say it (I do love that damn gold Kilo!) but I might be hanging it up for something else soon if a deal I've got in the works pans out.

i think its funny that people constantly post looking for bikes with "tight geometry" only to later realize that it means an uncomfortable ride for any distance longer then the coffee shop.

sometimes you have to sacrifice looking cool for comfort. This explains hybrid bicycles, marriage, minivans and fanny packs among other things.

The Kilo TT is a track bike, the seat is high and the bars are low and the wheelbase is short. If you wanted a street cruiser, a Kilo TT was probably not a wise choice. Your bike sound like it is the way it is supposed to be.

The Cosby Show or any early 90s sitcom, thats where i get all my non bicycle related knowledge.

hey noir look on the bright side you can always flip the kilo tt for about (or more) then what you bought it for.
