Want!...

Custom 36er mountain bike have been floating around for a few years now. Those who have ridden them on singletrack often come back saying something along the lines of "it rolls nice, but climbing is impossible." For a mountain bike application, at least, the consensus seems to be that it isn't really practical. Wheel strength and wheel weight seem to make it difficult to justify.

Also try finding a tube at your LBS!

Although as a road bike, it is quite the amusing ride.

Need one of those with a bike rack holding the OP's pictured bike.

Those bikes make everyone look like that little guy from The Princess Bride who says "Never start a land war in Asia!"

The rims, tires and tubes are made primarily by Coker. They're big (no pun intended) among distance unicyclists.

Now that you mention it... I was riding a paved trail earlier this year, and there was a guy on a unicycle with a huge wheel.

antiaverage 04-21-10 11:06 AM

One of the programmers from Blurst went on a unicicyle ride from Kenya to Tanzania recently. Here's a tribesman chilling with his unicycle:

The only way for a unicyclist to get into a higher gear is to get onto a higher wheel.

The link isn't working for me. However, I can disprove myself, too:
