lose the braze-ons?

okay gang. i'm turning my old follis, my bike i've had since high school, into an all-weather fixie for commuting, and it's going to need a coat of paint (actually it's needed one since the reagan era), and i'm realizing this would be the time to file off the braze-ons, but i'm getting cold feet here. i've had this thing for thirty years! the el-shaped barbs on the down tube could be useful for holding a pump, if i could find one of those pumps, and the curvy guy on top of the bottom bracket shell is really special - you don't see those too often these days.

but the question is - should i just go for it? understand, i'm completely dedicated to fixed here, the bike is never going to be geared again. just wonder what any of y'all might do if faced with a similar situation.

If they don't bother you don't worry about it.

one of mine keeps catching on my shorts...
other than thats I don't see its nessary. Unless you are able to get a good smooth surface its going to look bad.
Personally I wouldn't spend the time doing it
