Bore a Cinelli Alter!?
Just curious if anyone here had tried to bore out an alter to 1 1/8"? I'm fully aware that it could jeopardize the structural integrity of the stem, but I love the style and I can't help but want one on my 1 1/8" . I know the Modolo OXO is pretty similar in style, but that's a hard find.

What type of frame you got?
I think ALTERs only look good on bigger tubed alum frames (Cin Mash).
Luv the diff pin up girls you can get for them tho!
How bout goin the other way and slenderizin,
still dif tho.
Cinelli GROOVE
3T MUTANT
Both not hard to find and avail in 1 1/8

you don't want to be messing with stems like that...if one breaks you are going to be really sorry. Especially cause it will probably break exactly when you need it most (are putting the most weight on it)

There are videos of stems breaking in races and tours....it isn't a pretty sight.
Personally, it is too risky for me, but a stem breaking is like my worst nightmare.
On that note.....do it and let us know how it works out!!!!

If you are still not getting what we are trying to say....DON'T DO IT IF YOU THINK YOU SHOULDN'T DO IT!
I personally prefer the Groove over Alter.

Haven't these stems been known to break anyway?
Boring a stem that is already known to break seems like an even worse idea than running said stem in the first place.
