There is a big dent in the top tube by the seatpost. Why would you put that nice groupo on that frame?

LosAngelesRidin 04-22-10 06:10 PM

looks better IMO

gj

sooprvylyn 04-22-10 06:12 PM

You might want to check the tubes around the BB shell, i wouldnt be surprised if there is more frame damage.

Hes got this post up in two forums- ho hum

AEO 04-22-10 06:15 PM

that seatpost... if you can change it for anything else, do it.

sooprvylyn 04-22-10 06:17 PM

I'd take the frame, too bad it's not in my size.

osiris419 04-22-10 06:58 PM

For the price of the campy parts and wheelset you could have bought a nice older road bike without frame damage.

Germanicus 04-22-10 09:57 PM

This bike has vertical dropouts so I am assuming it started as a geared bike, was made into single speed and is now returning to it's original intended state. So I would say that this is a reversion.

lostarchitect 04-22-10 10:00 PM

Well, OK. But that's more of a restoration than a conversion. To each their own.

Squirrelli 04-22-10 10:02 PM

Why can't I be your bike and have Campy parts...

evilcryalotmore 04-22-10 10:03 PM

I have the Centurion RS in the rare maroon color. The serial says its made in the first factor so idk. Havent done the conversion yet. But im excited. Howd you get the headset off? mine has like a lock ring at the top that needs a special tool to remove.

Raiden 04-22-10 11:09 PM

Needed a bailout gear, huh? ;)

(Noticed you didn't use the new crank.)

PedallingATX 04-22-10 11:51 PM

what r u doing w/ that old wheelset? I need a singlespeed wheelset...

sharpsandflatts 04-22-10 11:57 PM

welcome to 2010. the year when hipsters started putting nice groupsets on their former janky conversions...

I was going to call it a reversion.

Cool bike, I don't know why so many are giving you crap about the frame. If you like it, good. The frame can always be upgraded.

AlmostTrick 04-23-10 05:51 AM

I've always wondered if those paintless dent repair shops that do cars would be able to massage dents out of bike frames. I've seen them do some pretty amazing work, so I'm betting they could. I doubt that dent is affecting the integrety of the frame.

I submit to your attention this excellent, very informative thread. One of the best on BFSSFG, I think.

Bikesnob talked about how the brakeless hipsters are evolving to road bikes. well, at least the ones who filtered through the whole zen, cool thing.
