suggest bar tape for me?
I definitely need some bar tape, as much as i love the look of my untapped bars, my hands kill me if i don't wear gloves. Any suggestion on what type of bar tape to use? I've been thinking of using the black version of https://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...s.php?id=16321. Anything else?
Here is a picture of my bike for reference:

I bought some Gian Gel Cork tape at my LBS, and it's pretty nice, I'm no expert, but it's got a nice soft feel to it.

Sweet Olmo...
If you like the bare metal look, go for the Cinelli Jelly

Feel-wise, I am currently most impressed with the sram tape.

I think leather bar tapes would look good. ... perhaps honey brown? (Not beer, ... ) Toshi stuff's probably the cheapest right?
Also, cotton (w/ or w/o shellac) tapes look nice, but it would feel like bare bar. ... Oh wait, I know Cinelli makes a new cloth tapes with gel inserts. You could try those.

my two favorite tapes (from the ones ive tried anyway) are the:
Cinelli cork tape
and Brooks leather tape.
although the brooks is SUPER expensive. luckily a friend bought some and only needed 1 of the 2 rolls. score!

Any tape without the adhesive on the back.
The first time I wrapped bars I liked it, but once I got good at wrapping bars I found it was just a pain in the ass.

i'm loving the Bontrager Race Lite Grippy Tape. Not much padding if that is an issue for you, but great feel if you like thin tapes.
https://bontrager.com/model/05048
CAREFUL wrapping though as this stuff is much more delicate than any other tape I've used.

i'm actually not a big fan of the Fizik microtek. i just tried it for the first time, as i was putting together a "vintage" ride. it feels nice on my hands, but it didn't wrap well. it didn't have the same stretch as cork. maybe i am just not as good at wrapping as i thought, but i've been wrapping bars for years...
i have had no problem with any cork tape i've ever used. deda, profile design, cinelli, whatever.

Specialized S-Wrap. It doesn't use sticky tape like other wraps, it uses silicon so that you can easily re wrap it.
Plus it is thick and comfy

I currently have white Cinelli cork tape with adhesive backing. I hate it so much. It was a pain in the ass to wrap, won't be able to use it again, and it's already tearing and coming apart. I actually need to get some new tape eventually, I'll probably just get some cheap gel cork bar tape.
Also, I've heard that with Fizik microtext stuff you aren't supposed to pull it tight or stretch it. I had a friend who did this and it started tearing almost immediately.

Fresh Garbage
That's odd. I've reused the same tape over and over, and I have pulled it tight without it falling apart.

Its harder to wrap if you have road handlebars and hoods. It works great during rainy days though as it stops your hands from slipping.
