There are probably about 2 bike thieves in the world who can hack through the u-lock or the frame within the 5 minutes she's picking up the package and get away with it.

The jersey was from the messenger service company and appears to be required as several others had it on in the vid. I guess sweat pants and old shoes must be way expensive in Seattle.

If she is living with boyfriend or several sharing rent, then much or most of her pay could cover the Chris King headset, the stem and bar. Even then a FG is not that expensive, especially compared to some of the rides some here in BFs are on.

The first thing that I really noticed was the Chicago flag mess bag in NYC. I almost got one of those myself, but opted instead to just utilize the colors of the flag in my own design. I wonder who owns that bag.

i love the look of my specialized aurora, but the retention always gets hit by something and loosens. my giro looks dumb and is heavier, but the camlock adjustment is great.

Her bag looks like an older Chrome Metropolis or Kremlin. I got a new Kremlin for $130. I thought Chrome bags were a favorite with many messengers.

obviously I could stand corrected on this one but I have never known a messenger who used a chrome unless it was issued to them... There are way better bags (usually from a local maker) that are way more comfortable... A friend of mine is forced to use a really crappy timbuk2, he is not happy...

So it is a real cheap bag then, not the "too expensive of a bike and kit" cc700 speaks of?

My issue isn't with her supposedly "expensive kit". It honestly doesn't look that expensive.
My issue is that she claims to do 8-15 runs a day.
I know guys who do 8 runs in an hour. I'm a really ****ty messenger and as long as they're not giving me bull**** crosstown runs I can do 5 an hour. Seriously 8 in a day? That sounds like a pretty damn lazy day. Also, she moves very slow.
In fact nothing about her kit looks expensive.
And how she locks up? I know bike theft where I live isn't nearly as bad as new york but I free lock 90% of the time. And I pretty much never lock up in loading docks. But that's just me.
One thing about her kit, she does have a very nice bag for someone who moves real slow and only delivers 8-15 packages a day. Im pretty sure her bag could hold 15 packages at once. How the hell do you survive on 8 packages a day? So yeah she doesn't seem like a very hardened messenger. Still, I love how it's the perception that shes got rich kid gear that annoys you guys. I'm more annoyed that she can't ride for ****. Also, while theres nothing wrong with tights something about her looks like she should be in a Yoga class.

The chick is cool, and the bike is OK, but... NO BRAKES??! Seriously? Isn't that asking for trouble?

in nyc yeah. i've been riding brakeless lately but i am not a messenger. however, at 8 runs a day (another reason i think she's too well outfitted to be doing this as a job) she's probably going slow enough to keep out of trouble.
