I've got 3 in different sizes. I use them all for different things.
Small: T2 Swig (size small). It just came in today and looks fantastic for the summer when I carry a computer, a lock and not much else.

Medium: Blicks Custom backpack. This is my workhorse, cuz it's totally water proof and a good size of most of the year. I got caught in a serious rain storm that lasted 14 miles. Even after a year of use, the cotton shirt at the bottom of the bag was totally dry.

Large: Chrome Backbone. I got this when it was in the Chrome Backdoor Sale. It's fantastic in the winter when I carry a stupid amount of stuff. It's also great when I need to grab a week's worth of groceries.

I see a of of packs in sporting goods stores with mesh on the back for air circulation but none of these seem to have that. Is that not important for cycling?
How is the vision over the shoulder on these backpacks?
Wouldn't a chest strap and a waist strap be important for holding the pack in place.

- it's somewhat important. I guess it's how much u're willing to tolerate
- vision over my hemlock seems fine
- depends on how the backpack fits. I have bags that slides around unless I secure sterum/waist strap. The hemlock bag has none of those but sits in place.

FINALLY! After what felt like an eternity, the damn Hemlock arrived today.

If anyone's wondering about size, this one's a Medium. I put my 15" macbook pro in the laptop compartment and it looks like there's space to fit in a 17" and then some.

I dig the side pocket, but kind of wish there were two, to be able to carry the U-lock in one and a bottle in the other. Minor thing, though.

The inner compartment, needless to say, is quite sizeable.

OOOOOM....

... NOMNOM...

...NOMNOMNOM...

Very happy with it. It'll see a lot of abuse from now on

I like ur color better. But it wasn't on sale where I bought it. Ah well.
Nice using the water holder for u-lock tho. Have not thought of that. Might do that from now on.

None of the backpacks posted have suspension harnesses. To me, that is an essential feature.

One I did for an online friend named Candice a little while back.

Chrome has some sort of ultrasonic welder that they use to seal the seams. I'm still looking into heat-activated adhesives that will accomplish the same thing. It would be cool to do that but it's not at the top of my priority list.

I should add, when I've tried to think about the logic of filling the main compartment of your bag up with ice I've always come up a little short. Like, I'll pack a 12 pack in a thermal bag sometimes inside my backpack but I can't imagine wanting to fill the whole thing with ice! I keep too much stuff in my bag. But that's just me.
