Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Denver, I really need some help!

Cross posted from the regional forum (sorry, but a ton more people read here than there). Looking for anyone who may have seen me get hit by a car yesterday (5-11) at about 8:30am at the intersection of I-25 and 20th. In the adrenaline of the moment, I didn't even think to get a witnesses contact info. There's got to be someone out there who saw it or knows someone who saw it. The car that hit me pulled out on a red light into the crosswalk and hit me, trashing my bike and ruining my commute to work. The driver is now saying that I ran into him, and I need a witness or two. This is totally not true and his insurance company is trying to screw me. Obviously he hit me because his car stopped on top of my front wheel and both my wheels were folded in half. So if anyone saw the incident or has talked to a friend who saw it, it would be amazing if you could help me out. My bike is my only form of transportation and I live 20 mi. from work. I'm trying to get this resolved asap, because I have no coin for a new wheelset to ride to work. If you are on any other forums or anything bike or non-bike and could spread the word that would be great too! Thanks alot. Josh 612-245-8894 fauxbots (at) gmail (dot) com

man, that really sucks..!! I got hit by a car once, hard..!! but I was riding an old Schwinn cruiser and got hit by an old VW bug....
I caved his hood in pretty good and my handlebars were bent and my derailleur was bent but we were both able to ride/drive away....
if it had been a big, heavy, front-engined vehicle, I'd have been a grease spot....

So I am merely asking a question, but judging from the pics, it looks as if you were hit on the left side of your bike..?
were you riding on the wrong side of the road..? or just walking it across the crosswalk.... just curious....

Good luck..!!!! seriously....

looks like he was using the crosswalk considering the lines he drew on the photo.

Actually on that section of 20th st. the sidewalk on the south side is a bike path, for about a mile east of the area i got hit the road is super sketchy and goes under some overpasses with really narrow lanes and no where to go if you get into a sticky situation, not to mention people are going like 50 down the hills under the over passes. So I was actually riding across the street with the walk signal.

Hope you find some one to help you out. I'd hate to see a mpls native get screwed over (actually anyone for that matter).
