Cranks and gear ratios?
I decided to build my own kilo tt instead of getting a complete seeing how I already own some wheels, and handle bar and stem.. if I decide to use those.
So since my first fixed gear i've been using 16/48t But now I want to buy sugino messenger cranks but should I try a diff ratio seeing how i'll need to buy a cog too. I don't have many hills where I live and a go to the track sometimes too, and should I keep the arms 165mm or get 170? My frame im going to buy is the kilo tt 55cm if that helps any. And whats some good but not too expensive bottom brackets I should look for that fit the messenger cranks? :) |
46/15 w/ 165! faast
|
thanks, is there any benefit in getting a 3/32 chainring instead of 1/8? whats the preferred size?
|
get the same size chainring as your cog.
also 170=more torque, less clearance cornering, 165=less torque, more clearance cornering |
Well i haven't bought the cog yet, I will when I order the cranks, I think I can fit a 170mm fine then? with a 55cm kilo and size 10 shoe

167.5 cranks and clipless it helps with the overlap.
49x16 yup... |
I'm going with 165 and 46:15, not sure about pedals, maybe mks gr-9's. gr-9's should be good for the track and streets as far as non clip-in's go?
