Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

... Gangaro? Wait what's that? Is it corrosive ... or radioactive?

Well, THE rain season is coming up in about a week. You wanna stay away from "GEKI kara" stuff as you will have hard time sitting at work late afternoon. And when in doubt always yield to taxi ... and shining black car with tinted back glass (or curtains). Oh and vans with big horn speakers playing loud music. (other cars are fine) If you see girls with maid outfits, there is a maid cafe within one block area. Must visit. I think "only look, don't touch" rule apply, but you can have one clean your ear with your head rested in her lap. ... For the record, I clean my own ear, thank you very much.

Yeah. I went to a maid cafe while in Akihabara. They do embarrassingly cute things like little chants, to infuse your food with love to make it taste better. Half of the patrons where little girls with their parents who thought it was cute, and the other half where dirty old men leering at the maids as they bent over. I'm still embarrassed.

And there were bikes everywhere! Most of the time they were locked to themselves with some flimsy little lock, if at all. Is there no bike theft in Tokyo???

bicycle theft as far as I could tell is pretty uncommon, I lived in Yokohama for 3 years and the majority of the crime I saw was from Gaijin not Japanese. All the bikes in the bicycle parking garages at the train station were locked with locks you could open with a screwdriver
