Arcade,
Live better. Living well is not a matter of how long you last rather how well you hold up for the time you are here. Nobody gives points to those who bury themselves through neglect, misuse/abuse and/or stupidity.

it wasn't all exactly self destructive behavior... in fact, only a small portion. being on a skateboard since i was 3... being out in the sun... a few fluke-type accidents... but it's not like i'm out here tryin' to kill myself...
i eat lots, exercise lots, and enjoy life as best as i can.

I actually thought that the plaintiff was trolling the defendant, since the receipt is suspiciously devoid of information:
$50 + $20 = er...$3500!
But, now that people are pointing out that the show pays for everything (and wikipedia confirms it; if it's on wikipedia, it must be true! /sarcasm), I am not only suspicious of these guys, but of lots of the cases.
Doesn't this just give idiots a way to make easy money from being idiots? God, American television, you're killing me! (See: Jerry Springer, everything by MTV.)

This whole thing reeks of scam to me.

So how does "Judge Judy" work?
On original version of "The People's Court" the producers provided a fixed settlement fund. The winner's damages came out of the fund first and the two parties split the rest.
So I'm thinking a couple of enterprising fellows, who are photogenic enough to interest the producers, could act like they hate each other for about 10 minutes and split a big payday.

That is why there was no police report because placing a false report is a crime...ripping off TeeVee producers is not

Yeah- those two dudes were the first actual modern messengers I've ever seen. Why are messengers so gutterpunk looking? Or are there normal looking ones too?

Judge Judy was a family court judge in Manhattan before her TV show. I work in family court in Brooklyn and people refer to some of the judges and hearing officers as "Judge Judy" because they try to act like her. I've been meaning to see if any of my coworkers actually appeared before her.
