Stem sizing

I recently bought a new fixed, a Kilo tt. I've been getting alot of wrist pain. I feel like I'm putting alot of weight on my wrists. I've tried moving the seat lower, adjusting the seat, etc. I think I'm going to try for a new stem. The stem that was stock on the bike is 100mm, so I was thinking a 90, or 80mm. Is there a big difference between the two? What are the pros and cons? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

a stem with more of a rise... sounds like you're too hunched over, and your body's weight is being pushed onto your hands instead of distributed. a rising and/or shorter stem will help that issue.

Or less rise. There's a point at which your stomach muscles start taking the weight. It's all personal and dependent on your body.

Short stems are gonna make your steering twitchy. It gets annoying when I get tired and wanna ease off.

Get correct seat height and saddle position / angle using some guide; hanging a bob, staring yourself in mirror and all. Youtube has some videos, too. I like PerformanceBike's video because it's easy to follow. Then fiddle with the bar. There is plenty of adjustments you can do with a hex wrench and also you might not need to buy anything.

But then the first thing you need to do is to ease off on your wrists by staying off of your bike for a few days. I have an albatross bar in my box so I use that instead, an instant relief. Any bars that sweep back toward you prolly work. Have few beers and watch some games. Let your wrists heal up.

indeed.

he is suggesting that the abs will take some of the load off the wrists with a lower stem. true or not, i dunno...but a blatantly obvious point that was apparently over your head.
