Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

To all the Seattle SS/FG riders out there...

I was just curious as to what gear ratios you guys are riding on. My girlfriend and I are planning on moving here this fall and I plan on riding everywhere. My gear ratio right now is 46:17 which is good for the East Bay of CA but doesn't seem too great for Seattle. Thanks!

So does everyone in seattle have your strength and ability? You go there, and judge for yourself what is a good gear.

Define "doesn't seem too great." I'm guessing you run 165 cranks.

I run 44/15 on the streets of Vancouver. Similar topography to Seattle. That's 79 gear inches to your 73.

What is wrong with what you have? You use the word "here" so I assume you are visiting right now?
