+ a new mac pro, some room treatment panels, and a cheap fixay with whatever cash I have left over

adriano 06-02-10 10:40 PM

its got to be the carbon district.

Squirrelli 06-02-10 10:44 PM

I'd spend most on music: records, CDs, concerts, maybe some headphones and the rest on a mediocre fixed and a road bike as well as a professional bike fit. Saving the rest for the future.

Agreeing with the belt drive, although I'd take those stupid "car-scratcher" bars off. Not only will they inevitably lead to an ass-kicking/run-over-ing, but one fall onto those and you'll get served up with a lower-intestine shiskebob.

Picture is crap, here's a link.

I actually really like schnee's idea. Start somewhere around a grand, and "trade-up" while documenting the whole experience.

I can't take credit for it, there was a dude that traded a paperclip up and eventually got a house:

I'd buy half a bike. But, that's just what I'd do with 5k.

VA_Esquire 06-03-10 06:24 AM

some guy built up a cervelo P3 into a fixed gear......Id do that.

What is better than a Kilo TT? A Kilo WT ;)

Probably build up a Cinelli MASH in green:
http://www.citygrounds.com/blog/wp-c...5/img_1666.jpg

Such a pretty frame.

Edit: I'd pocket the rest, I don't need a $5k bike.

LupinIII 06-03-10 01:34 PM

build a scrambler and decoupage it in 100 dollar bills

joker8baller 06-03-10 02:00 PM

<3 my Cinelli Mash in Green. Rode it last night, it's freaking sweet.

So Mavic IO + Kilo TT anyone? Hahaha.

In all seriousness, probably an Anchor Frame. =)

Or a BMC Track Machine

destikon 06-03-10 02:01 PM

I'd buy a pugs... and a big dummy.

Moozh 06-03-10 03:25 PM

and the remainder....if any...on wimmin and scotch. Free money demands a stipend be allocated for vice.

LupinIII 06-03-10 03:40 PM

Cinelli Supercorsa pista, full Italian build, mostly Campagnolo parts etc - or an authentic NJS build - or, most sensibly, a custom lugged steel frame from a high end boutique frame builder.

But: I'd ride any of those bikes like once per year. I wouldn't want to risk a $5k bike around cars.

Cannondale Slice 5/Cervelo P3.

I woul dbuy the frameset, plus the bars and seat, and convert to Single speed via spacers and tensioner, or convert to fixed via. Eccentric rear Hub.
If the frame goes over the budget, I would prolly just grab myself a Leader frame.

But the P3s from Cervelo are also nice.

Id throw in a front White Deep V and a white disc wheel at rear. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=153698

kringle 06-03-10 06:16 PM

Pugsly, then use the rest to make a tiny dent in my debt.

arp415 06-03-10 06:19 PM

I'm going to convert this to a fixedgearpedalpoweredcrimestoppingmachine!

I'd build the tallest tall bike in the world. 30 genesis frames tall.

Knowledge and a custom frame and fork made by you. They also usually teach you how to build-up wheels and such. Then take what $$ you have left and complete the rest.

Go Full Dura-Ace and HPlus's or Zips or something. Maybe all campy... Whatever tickles your berries.

Charnek has the right idea.

Go to the UBI frame-making school in Ashland, Oregon, and make the frame yourself with lots of time and tutoring.

See a couple of plays and eat in some nice restaurants.

What a joy.
