Neon pink base, with fluorescent green stripes on down tube and the ironic orange on the chain stays.

I was actually thinking of either a blue or dark green.

Thanks for the suggestion! That would look way clean...

2011 i like orange bikes

gonathan85 06-04-10 03:29 PM

These are the colors that I chose. The frame will be the metallic green....fork will be white. I'm also planning on doing some white pin-striped decails on the frame to tie in the fork color...

These colors truly pop in the sun...I can't wait!

dude, i chose basically that same green about three hours before you posted that. weird.

of course, my frame and fork will be the same color and my components should be pretty different from yours. still...

weeeeeeeird!!! :twitchy:

have you thought about the possiblity of doing some white pinstripe decails on the frame tubing? i thought this might set off the green color in a smashin' way.

nah i'm going with VERY minimal, clean design on the frame. i MAY do some airbrushed washes or translucent decals to give a ghosted adidas stripe effect if i want to continue with that theme, but i'll basically be keeping this extremely minimal.

very cool. i'm looking forward to seeing how your project turns out.

this is my first bike build...on a slightly strict budget...using old parts...so use some grace whenever i finally show it to the board =D.

Sorry about the previous post...
I saw your frame on the C&V section.
Everything's looking great. :thumb:
What components have you decided to use?

No worries no worries =). And thanks!

At this point...I'm going to try my best to restore some of the parts that I posted in the C&V section...stem...bars...crank/chainring...pedals...

But ya know what....I realllly like how this frame is turning out...and I might have to either do a second bike...orrrrrr upgrade to newer components over time.

I have yet to figure out which bottom bracket to purchase. I figure that once the frame is done, I can take both frame, crank, and wheelset to the LBS and see what they think??

Squirrelli 06-05-10 12:52 AM

You can definitely reuse the your cranks and a new bottom bracket. You might want to get new wheels too, since I'm assuming you want to go fixed? You could reuse your stem and bars, just have to give those a good polish, as well as your crankset. It'll look good when it's all polished up.
Just have a f**king blast with this build :D

Yep...planning on doin just that. The guy @ the powdercoating shop that I use gave me a scotch pad that I'll use on the aluminum-inum-inum-inum. I guess I'll find some polish down the road.

I'm not looking forward to having to wait a whole week to see the finished frame....SIGH. =)

Havin a freakin blast!

A scotch pad will work.... it would just take MANY beers...

A polishing wheel is what you need for aluminum as any other way just takes too long.

I plan on elbow greasin with the scotch pad, and following with some aluminum polish with fine steel wool parts...we'll see how it goes.
