if you don't need to take much stuff with you, see if you can get what you do need to fit in a saddle bag/fanny pack. the second I ditched the stuff I didn't really need for work, i found i could cram what I did need in a fanny pack (and water bottle holder, for my thermos). feels really good to not have any extra weight on my back or the bike.

I'd like to do it on my FG bike as that's the one I most enjoy riding and I'd be particularly interested to hear if anybody commutes in Tokyo. Cheers. |
Finally took the plunge and started commuting today. 6.5 miles each way. Lesson for tomorrow: bring an extra shirt, it was WARM this morning.
