Noob Question About Building Fixie...
OK so I have been debating getting a Kilo TT for awhile but I'm tired of waiting for the Stripper Editions to restock.
So my question, on a $400-450 budget can I build a decent bike considering I buy a kilo frame for $200 from Bike Island? That leaves me with $250 max on wheelsets, cranks, saddle, etc... I'm also a complete Noob/Newb/Idiot when it comes to biking so building will be a challenge, but I'm willing to sacrifice the time being building a fixie if its possible in my budget. *note* the Pake frames on ebay go for about $150 on Ebay, don't know much on those frames. How's the sizing on those/quality? I'm 6'3, 34 inseam Thanks for any feedback |
Better off buying a complete bike if that's your budget. You're not going to build anything that good spending $200 on a frame and leaving yourself $250 for components. A lot of people overlook the cost of things like headsets, tires, bottom brackets, clips, straps etc. Will you be building it yourself? If so, factor in tools. If the local bike shop will be assembling it, figure in their cost for labor.
