Along with ISIS's latest, I've been greatly enjoying Envy - Japanese emotional hardcore at it's finest. I'm so sorry I missed the ISIS/Envy/Pelican/These Arms Are Snakes tour.

Also - amazing live, Russian Circles.

Death Rides a Horse, listen over and over.

Give me some Slackers, Scofflaws, Skatalites, Pietasters, Deals Gone Bad, that ilk. Let's Go Bowling is playing right now. I need to get into a bit more of the roots of it though.

Keeping with the rest of the post, been listening to a pretty good range of stuff lately, recent downloaded albums (just the artists) include
Plaid, Attica Blues, Bauhaus, Matthew Dear, Medeski Martin & Wood, The Sonics, The Mekons

Also been listening to:
Sukia, Talking Heads, Ambulance LTD, Lusine ICL, Latyrx, People Under the Stairs.
I never really digged the punk-with-horns-in-the-background-so-we-call-it-ska scene. LGB, Mustard Plug, Skatilites, New York Ska Jazz Emsemble, Toasters, Pietasters are where its at. I will confess that contrary to some in the scene, i always enjoyed the first RBF album. Also, cant go wrong w/ MMBT. Basically anything upbeat, syncopated, and horn driven is what I like. I also have a large colelction fo secodn wave british ska---madness, bad manners, etc.

There's a cd out called "Life. Iron Lung. Death." that's pretty goddamned great. And if you can find it, there's a cassette out there called "the iron lung comedy hour" that's also pretty awesome.

And naturally, if you get a chance to see them, do whatever is necessary to do so. It's great to see so much noise come out of a two-piece.

I need help. I'm trying to think of this song with one of my friends. Its going to sound pretty general though.
1 it was in the nineties
2. had a rather longish band name
3. was a melodic slower song
4. the video had planes flying in the background, like constantly leaving an airport or something

I know its vague, but any ideas would help. I'm thinking it was sometime between 94-98

Lately I've really been enjoying Cake and Weezer. This morning I had some Rage Against the Machine on, their first. Love that Bombtrack song.

I'm not nearly as into music as I used to be. Just don't have time for it I guess. Kind of a bummer...used to be into new wave and I love classic rock, some bluegrass (especially bluegrass gospel), old country, and ***** tonk (Hank Williams).

Are you thinking of Folk Implosion? I can't think of the song name right now, I'll look when I get home. I assume if there was a video it got radio play.

Classic Rock, Hard Rock....the stuf from before Rock and Roll died (when David Lee Roth left Van Halen).

Also a couple of years ago my 16 year old son discovered these "new groups"--- Ramones, Dead Kennedys......Wendy O and the Plasmatics. So these groups from my younger days have been added along with Rancid, The Biggs, Throw Rag, and Flogging Molly

i listen to alot of black metal (immortal, gorgoroth, early emporer are a few i really like), grindcore and crust, doomy stuff like the melvins or neurosis, some noise and ebm, gothy stuff (sisters of mercy, bauhaus, the cure, faith and the muse, switchblade symphony), lots of synth pop like vnv nation, and tons of new wave 80s. oh and just to round it out, here's a shameless plug for the band i'm in called withered, we just signed to lifeforce records. if you want to check us out go to www.withered.net, or www.myspace.com/withered. we're going on an east coast tour early july and it would be awesome to meet some of you folks that are on here. i'll be without my bikes for a while and getting a fixy fix would be wonderful as i'll be going through withdrawals.

right now: Nobukazu Takemura - Scope

I love the 2nd track on this album. If you're interested in some... unconventional electronic music, do a search for "kepler" on your favorite p2p. Might be able to find it.
