track chain
looking for a new chain. and i don't really know who makes a good track chain, any ideas?
|
izumi gold, regina CX if you still get that one.
S/F, CEYA! |
SRAM pc-1
KMC bushingless generic 1/8th silber |
hkk vertex, izumi gold, sachs(sram?) makes a decent one as well, cheap but not pretty though...
|
Sram PC-7X is a good one...$18-20 or so.
|
hey, just double checking, what's the width on a track chain compared to a regular roadie chain?

PC-1 is burly and around 10 bucks. Also all silver so it looks pretty trick.

On the KMC topic. True, their lower end models suck a big one and were aptly named KillMyChildren by my LBS after seeing several of them snap on kids bikes.
However, their heigher end models are fantastic. I have the Z610HX and it does not stretch and runs very quiet and smooth. I also belive that there is no benefit in using an 1/8 chain over a 3/32 apart from adding weight. |
Lucky cat stated " Acutally track stuff can be either 1/8 or 3/32. But I would, and always have, go with the 1/8 stuff."
You are correct BUT track was made for 1/8". Old 1 pitch is 1/8 also. The reason for 3/32 is for guys you used their road bikes during the winter for fixed wheel training or for guys who raced pursuits on timetrial bikes to use a better array of gear chioces. Companies started to make them to be easier on them, the customer. S/F, CEYA! |

If you want Style and strength you might want to check out SRAM PC-7X in Gold and Black. If you want just a traditional BMX/Track chain look at any KMC Z-chains. Z410RB is good, the RB means Rust Buster, but no chain I've used is rust proof.

HMMM, must have gotten it all wrong then. Please forgive me.
Gosh darn it, I could have sworn we were arguing over wether or not 3/32 can be track specific. |
from the looks of it, the argument was over whether 144 bcd was track specific. not that i'm taking a stand here, mind you...
|
i have a sadis chain, i don't think its a track chain but it might be, its a 3/32 size, anyways now it makes lots of noise how do i fix it!! chain not tight enough?
