21.15 (.833) Stems

So be being a cheap butt, I never bought calipers to measure any of the inner or outer diameters of my steerer tube. I just went by what my headset locknut said, 22.2. So I bought 2 Origin8 22.2 quill stems and they didn't fit. Now a little bit more research on sheldonbrown and apparently I need a 21.15 stem. 22.2 and 21.15, not much of a difference, do you think I could just sand the 22.2? I'm having trouble finding 21.15 stems and I want one with a 26.0 clamp. The bike is a Huffy 15 speed cruiser from the 70s that I converted to a fixie. I already painted the bike and bought new pedals, tires, bars, brakes, and a headset for it so I really just want it to be complete. Or should I just forget about it and get a more modern bike.

Thanks
Daniel

I'd say cut your losses and start over with something more standard.

Sounds good man. I'll wait for more opinions but I'm probably just gonna leave the bike how it is now, stem/bars combo doesnt look great but it still rides fine and just save up for a new bike.

I think I have one at home. PM me and I can see about getting it to you.
