Why the dirty looks?

When I'm bored in the garage tinkering on one of the bikes I like to take a little spin. Maybe just "round the block", or sometimes on the bike trail. If I'm in the garage, I usually have a cigar going, and when I venture out, the cigar comes with. Is it that awkward for people to see someone riding a bike smoking a cigar? I get some dirty piercing looks from people. It's not like i'm smoking crack or shooting heroin, WTF!?!?!

Personally, I give everyone who smokes a cigar a dirty look, regardless of what they are doing. I think it seems really pompous and it reminds me of dirty old rich business type skeez bags talking about their investments and how many yachts they own. But I realize these stereotypes are unfounded, but it doesn't keep me from giving dirty looks. Also, I have a hatred for the tobacco industry and while I feel sorry for people who fall victims to it, I still can't keep myself from giving them dirty looks, probably because I can't walk from one class to the next without walking through clouds of smoke.

I'd give a hearty round of applause if I saw someone smoking a gar and riding a bike.

Perhaps smoking and riding will be the next big thing. When you upgrade to nargila, let me know, that would be amazing to see.

People consider cycling to be an exercise activity, and smoking during exercise isn't normal by most standards.

However, the majority of the time I ride my bike, I'm doing it for either transportation or enjoyment, so I don't think smoking during a ride is that odd. That said, I've never done it myself.

Mainly it reminds me of my dad. Who was not a dirty old business type with a yacht. Just a yobbo with a bad habit. Everybody else in the family hated those damn cigars. Maybe it's great for the cigar-smoker, but for everyone else nearby, it sucks.

But yes, a bike-mounted hookah would be something to see. You could make them extra long so that everyone in your peloton could partake.

I'll start working on a bar mount for the hookah at work. Only problem is going to be keeping the coal from falling off...

No not weird, I get plenty of complements when I'm out. What can I say, I have a weakness for good 'gars.

This. Also, smoking cigars are much more uncommon than cigarettes, so that compounds it.

Are you sure it's not just in your imagination? Or maybe people are jealous of how Wolverine-like you look crusing on a bike and smoking a cigar.
