Entry level Cranksets?
What are some good cranksets to look into? Looking to spend under $100 including the bb. thanks.
You could go with the $50 Origin8 or Eighth-Inch cranksets
or the better quality- higher priced SRAM S300 The SRAM its $88 Shipped and comes with the BB. |
that sram crank looks good. any experience with yt?
Pake, I use them right now, pretty good. Cost around 40-60 online.
The SRAM is pretty stiff because of the external bearing GXP bottom bracket. You could get the SRAM S100 but that has a power spline BB like the Truvativ Touro. I have a friend who uses the SRAM S300 and he likes it a lot. Its maybe second or third to the more expensive Omnium but I'm pretty sure you wont find a better bang for the buck.

I was thinking of getting the s100 before but the 300 for 88 is a good deal. how would my chainline end up? its a leader 722 its going on with Phil wood hubs if that means anything.
I think you get a 43mm line with the sram s300? i have a set and my chainline with formula hubs looks great.
i love my kazane cranks but if the S300 had been out then i would have bought the S300.
is there a big difference between the s100 and s300?
yes they're entirely different cranks. the 300 is redesigned and much nicer.
i have a truvativ elita compact crankset on my road bike and the crank bolt kept coming out. they fixed it on the newer bb30 sets but i'd get the 300 and NOT the 100. for the s100's price, i'd get pake or iro or 1/8 inch or origin 8. they're all pretty similar and they'll all be easier to install. you have to really torque the **** out of S100/S300 crankbolts. |
