Tire Thread
 

My tires are wearing out really quick, especially my rear tire, UltraRace. The UltraRace is wearing out much quicker than the Gatorskin, but they are both wearing out quicker than I expected.
I don't skid, I just ride everywhere. I'm planning to try something else.

I just want your opinions on different tires that you might have used and why you dis/liked it.
I searched BF for tires, but I can't find a thread that includes tires that are somewhat balanced in rolling resistance, puncture resistance, durability and ride quality.
Tires I've been pondering about are:
GP 4000, Hutchinson Intensive clinchers and Michcelin Krylion.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, the last pair of tires I bought was about three weeks ago and I've put anywhere between 200-300 miles on them without a single flat which is amazing for me since I rarely go 50 miles without a flat. They are 15$ tires from Walmart. They have no brand but they are Kevlar haha. I got fed up with paying around fifty for the continental race tires I used to run and decided what the hay why not give it a shot and I am highly impressed. Haven't been riding on super rough roads but pretty much my usual roads. Being damn cheap too I really don't care if they go bad soon.

panaracer ribmo... so far been great to me... not too heavy, decent rubber thickness, great rolling resistance and no flats so far... my friend just got some schwalbe marathon plus tires in 25c, those should last him forever, I have around 3k on my schwalbe marathon elite (now the plus)...

Specialized armadillos haven't given me any trouble in terms of flats - the rolling resistance is a bit high though.

Michelin Lithion 2 from PBK. $18 shipped from the UK. No brokerage or taxes.

The Oriums last longer but aren't foldies. The Lithion 2 is GREAT value right now.

The Continental Giro has been the best tire I have run thus far. It is a tubular though. As for clincher, id have to say it was the Gatorskin for me.

I actually looked at the PBK one earlier but they were out of stock, I might get those but I don't know much about them.

Look at the michelin website and see their matrix (usage/performance tab) of what has better puncture resistance, rolling resistance etc.

The Lithion 2 from them is insane value. I'm waiting on the black/grey ones to come in stock then pulling the trigger. Wish they made white ones.

I think that's what I'm going to do too, I can also get a good deal for some Krylion Carbon, but I think they're out of the picture. Thanks, doc.

I have had great experiences with my krylion carbons. Only one puncture so far, and that was a wire.

I had the lithion 2s before that, they sucked. Very weak sidewalls.

I'm kind on the fence about the Lithion 2, couldn't find much info on the net about them.

They're 19 bucks. Try em out for us? :)

Sorry for the threadjack but has anyone tried the Soma Super Everwear tires? I was thinking of getting a pair but wanted to get some opinions on them.

tire thread is measured per inch.

I got a pair of lightly used armadillo elites, I'm liking them so far (probably put ~100 miles on it over the last week), rolling resistance is probably a little bit higher than the vittoria rubino I had before but I don't care. the tires are extremely unround there is a noticeable lip of rubber at the edge of the contact path, this is because of the absurd amount of rubber thats on these tires, I couldn't imagine getting a flat on these. I've also used a 28 rando and really liked it, lasted forever but my current bike wont accept 28's (which I think look more like 30-32 to me) and I've heard terrible things about their 25s.
If your not skidding I like Vittoria Rubinos alot but they just don't wear well if you skid alot.

I'm sorry but 200-300 miles is really not enough to get a good judgment on how a tire will wear.
