In NY they can confiscate your bike for riding on a sidewalk.

So i'm guessing you're a "good cyclist" because when someone tries to run you over you just sit there and take it.

i don't throw stuff off my bike but i want to ALL THE TIME. i have to resist the urge and employ my better judgement. |
No trouble is worth the trouble. Let the fools pass you. Be the better person.

the point at which i realized CM was for ******bags was the point at which i listened to some crazy idiot talk about how the government doesn't like cyclists because they want to keep people in their 'boxes' ... you have an apartment box and a work cubicle box and a car box and anytime anyone goes outside of their boxes the government gets all oppressive and fascist.
there's a point to which simplistic views of society and justice become self-serving and false, and CM crazies are about fifteen lightyears beyond that point. Did you ever notice how all our posts are in little boxes on the page? And our computers are just more little boxes?! MAN THE GOVERNMENT IS KEEPING US IN ****IN BOXES MAN, **** THE MAN BRO! |

whenever ppl piss me off while im riding, I kick it into high gear, ride up to the car and do a number of things depending on their offense:
a) ask someone to use their blinker b) tell them to learn how to drive c) kick the car d) spit on the car e) throw an orange at the windshield |
All the Internet "street justice" types tickle me to death. Sorry little boys but this is the real world. You start u-locking, spitting on, kicking and throwing crap at cars you just aren't going to make it long. You'll be made to behave. Guaranteed. When I was young this was called "selling wolf tickets". Back to the tough guy playground until mommy calls you for dinner.

About a month ago I was riding to Temple in the morning and a business man in a subaru pulled around me and threatened to hit me if I come up on the side of him(I usually ride on the side of the streets, there is enough room for a bike and a car, like on 11th st). |

As much fun as it would be to chuck something heavy at a car that almost run you off the road on purpose, it is so not the worth the effort. (Driver could press charges, run your ass over, be batsh#t crazy and carry some kind of weapon, etc...) |

There's also the point at which their views become absolutely hilarious.

I do let out the occasional vocal insult though... and even that can set off some BS, depending on how crazy and macho the driver is. |

I like boxes. Bike parts come in boxes. I sleep on a box shaped bed. I eat cereal out of a box and pour milk out of a box. Boxes contain surprises! If my bed was a sphere, it would not be very comfortable.

Aside from the obvious road rage at bicycles that we have all experienced, in Michigan, you can, but should not ride on sidewalks (as opposed to Germany where is is explicitly illegal for an adult to ride on a sidewalk).
I can't speak specifically to where you live, but according to state law here: The MVC does not require bicyclists to ride on the sidewalk and we {League of Michigan Bicyclists} do not recommend it because of safety hazards to the bicyclist and other sidewalk users. However, Section 257.660c of the MVC says: (1) “An individual operating a bicycle upon a sidewalk or a pedestrian crosswalk shall yield the right-of-way to pedestrians and shall give an audible signal before overtaking and passing a pedestrian. (2) “An individual shall not operate a bicycle upon a sidewalk or a pedestrian crosswalk if that operation is prohibited by an official traffic control device. (3) “An individual lawfully operating a bicycle upon a sidewalk or a pedestrian crosswalk has all of the rights and responsibilities applicable to a pedestrian using that sidewalk or crosswalk.” |
