Decisions...
I know someone that lives pretty closeby that's selling their langster for 300. It's an 07 (the first year of the cf fork) and has no dents - but it has a few paint chips. It's fully stock sans upgraded tires (specialized armadillo), and is just about the right size for me. Should I pull the trigger? Is it worth the money? I'd like a second opinion ;)

Langster's aren't bad and if it fits, that's not a bad price. However, personally, I am not a huge fan of the sloping TT nor the aluminum frame. But I did like how responsive it was during a test ride.

EDIT: Langster Specs: http://bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeS...ster&Type=bike Further years came with a better crank (The Messenger over the Sugino Comp). Looks as if the geometry shifted slightly too in the later years. But I know for a fact they changed the fork out on later models. That fork is not my favorite. |
Yes pull it the price is great considering the mark up dealers put on them (well around here anyway); the stock langster comes with some pretty nice components already out of box! I got my 1st langster (the high polished one with the black carbon fork; which I presume you're talking about?) around $300 aswell; then I got the tokyo edition for only $125 as a frame.

I'm talking about the rust one.

...you rang?
|
If it were my 300 bucks, I wouldn't do it.
|
Sloping tt?
|
I don't really have anything against a sloping top tube. In fact, I like them on some bikes. I'm just not very fond of the Langster.
But - if you like it and it fits you, 300 bucks doesn't seem like a bad price. |

Offer him less. Always lowball your seller. It doesn't sound like a bad deal, assuming everything is in good shape. Take it for a test ride.

I have one and I like it. I paid a lot more for mine. If you have a problem with the langster just take the parts off of it and sell the frame... get $150 bucks back.

Did you somehow miss the second sentence of my post? Why do I need to have some huge, earth-shattering reason? I didn't say it's a ****ty bike, because it's not. I don't like broccoli either, simply because I just don't like it. Does it need a big explanation? |

Oh, I see now. You're one of those head up your own ass, overly-argumentative types who seems to have a bone or two to pick with me. Go for it, champ. Send me a PM or two instead of cluttering up people's threads.

Thanks.

Broccoli is delicious.
I, for one, have only seen a couple of Langsters I like. I'm just not a huge fan of the bike. It probably has something to do with the sloping top tube, but I can't really pinpoint my dislikes for it. At the end of the day, though, if you like it you should go for it. Take it for a test ride and make sure it fits. $300 seems like a fair price, but you could always shoot for lower... it shouldn't hurt. |
i don't know about that particular year/model but the langsters i've seen seem pretty good, i'd pay $300 for it. they are lightweight, responsive, and come with a carbon fork; perfect for the type of riding i do.
