Sounds like you could carry a jousting pole next time you see a bunch of roadies heading your direction.

I went to find a picture of a "huge rake" from Google, because I was going to suggest that you use a "huge rake" instead of a jousting pole in order to take out more roadies. Literally every picture was porn. I am at Starbucks right now.

While I have nothing good to say about roadies (versus people who ride road bikes) I did not view them as evil. Not even a good try there banana. I simply felt locked in. I could have put a foot down. But, I risked being plowed over. While unlikely, I decided it wasn't going to be like that at all. I decided to bring a load. I was just like WTF because of the way they fanned out. The road was straight. They weren't in danger themselves nor were they endangering others in the generic sense. But, they were barreling directly at me. That mattered - to me. I was never even angry. Again, just thinking WTF and then deciding - OK, I'll play.

The rules for engagement have always been to pick the one that will be the lesser accident. You were up against the pack mentality. Pick the weakest one to make your ***** and make an example of him. You should have reached down and pulled your u-lock off and like a medieval joust rode by the weakest of the pack and smacked that little ***** in the head with a kryptonite u-lock as you rode by him.

LOL. I'm not the u-lock justice type, really. While not off the table entirely, this was not one of those cases. Not even close. Not even if there had been a collision. Now, if they were stealing my bike or somehow physically mistreating one of my children or NOT starring at my wife's butt well I think we can all agree these things are just unacceptable in all cultures and would need to be dealt with.

Not to mention teach him what side of the road he should be on. Hey, jousting is a brutal blood sport, not for the feint at heart, not for everyone. The challenge was issued for a duel at dusk. As always in life, there will be winners and losers. The roadies made their choice, either to ride in intimidation or in peace and harmony. Sometimes the results aren't as one would expect. Bullies shouldn't gripe when one of their's is the fallen, a casualty of their own self-inflicted choices of boorish & obnoxious behaviors.

Me either, but you have to defend yourself with what is readily available. I actually prefer one of these as the weapon of choice:

I use "sausage wrappers" as a loving cheap shot. Any dude wearing lycra on the street (unless participating in an event - like a road race) is a sausage wrapper. There is not a single valid reason for a man of any age to be in skin tight garb in public unless they are participating in an "official function" and the garb is considered appropriate for the function. Chicks are always good to go in tight stuff. Just the way it is. Guys should wear form fitting clothes but not tight. Tight on men is decidedly unmanly and more important it's disgusting. I do not care what your age or physical conditioning.

Go to the right. Got it. But, people drive on the left here. Does that matter?

Yeah, wireless mice burn through AA's. I run wired mice on my rig, not only because they're weight adjustable (Logitech G5) but because I'm stupid and forget to turn off the wireless kinds, usually leaving them overnight.

Apple makes good stuff. They really do. They just charge too much. I'm a bigger fan of simply dropping something like Linux Mint on hardware or if security is the overarching concern and I can live with a limited apps pool like on a laptop I'd suggest PC-BSD. Still GUI, still pretty and nothing can harm you (on BSD anyway). But again - Mac is good stuff. Way limiting from a hardware perspective but Mac has always been limiting in that way. Choices.
