OMG. Finally we can have the bolt-on disc wheel look without paying the disc wheel price?

Haha Ive only seen the bolt-on disc wheel covers for road bikes.

What do you guys think. There are no pictures yet, but Im excited to see what they look like. Even if they don't look like I think they will, I think it would still be pretty cool assuming that they will even LOOK like disc wheels lol.

I'll go out on the limb and say no

Fact: make your own. It'll be less expensive, and probably of similar quality.

Opinion: Unless you play polo, or do a time trial, or maybe actually take it to the track, then don't bother. For polo, it serves a functional purpose to save your spokes from balls and mallets. Beyond that, the gain is purely speculative. (Without wind-tunnel or otherwise scientific testing, there is absolutely no gauge of how aero the modification is, aside from how the bike feels/what kind of times you run. and even that may be due to psychology/some kind of placebo effect)

on the street, it won't matter all that much, it'll make your ride heavier, and crosswinds will make your bike buck around under you (especially if you disc the front)

With those wheel covers, I will be struggling in crosswind in style.

youngandcurious 07-30-10 03:55 PM

mmmmmm ill just make my own...

i'll take spoked wheels anyday over plastic wheel covers.

if you want disc wheels, pay the price for the zipps

I use a disc cover for TTs and traithlons, I'm a lightweight and haven't had any crosswind issues, feels really good at some angles even. The 80mm front kills me sometimes though.

As for Zipps, **** em, too damn expensive for not enough performance gain.
