i like riding fast, and there's been plenty of times i needed to stop quickly and a well set up front brake will stop the bike faster than legs alone. even if you don't plan on riding fast there's no harm in having a front brake in case something really ****ed up happens. safety saves lives, dude.

I bought studded tires last year. It's worth the piece of mind. The previous winter I wiped out on some ice and fractured my hip. Not fun.
