Help! Flite 100. UNEVEN FORK
 

I have a 09 flite 100. I noticed today that the fork is slightly uneven. The blade of the fork on the right side is a tad bit more forward than the left, but the bottom end where the wheels connect are even. Its just the top part of the fork. My questions are, Is that KHS fault? or my doing? Does anyone else notice this on their Flite 100? Should I buy a new fork cause it might be a problem later on? I've searched the web and came up with nothing. Your input will greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

As long as your front wheel tracks properly in the plane of the frame, and you aren't crabbing down the road when you ride, then I wouldn't worry about it. It's not uncommon for forks with separate crowns and fork legs on lower end bikes like the Flite 100 (aka Kilo TT) to be a little off, but it's normally just a cosmetic issue. As to your doing something to cause this, well, unless you had a front end collision or are jumping curbs a lot then I'd say not. Normal riding won't bend a fork.

If you bought it new and it's bothering you, take it back to the shop where you got it and see if they will cover it under warranty.

Second hand purchase? Live with it or find an aftermarket $50-100 fork.

If it's the stock steel fork, and it's really out of whack, you can bend it back into a relative, proper shape.

A little tip I picked up from hockey players that bend their ice skate blades. The trailer hitch inlet of a pick up truck offers a place to insert the fork blade for leverage. Again, dire circumstances.

If it is off at the crown (I'm assuming from the description), bending it isn't an option. If your fork is "straight" as in tracks straight, bending it for cosmetic reasons will require extra adjustment, as soon as you move the fork leg, the tracking will be off.

IMO just ride it, or bring it to a pro for inspection.
