Help with brake pad on new fixie
I just added a shimano tiagra front brake on my fixie, and the stock pad kinda tearing up my wheel, not machined has orange painted layer. I was thinking the swisstop yellow pads would help this because they are designed for a slicker surface. I am just a little lost at which specific model would fit my brake, and hoped you guys could steer me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for your input |
from my experience with brakes on painted rims, i don't think you will ever find a soft enough brake pad to prevent tearing up the paint on your wheel...

your first mistake was getting a non-machined rim when you're running a front brake. The second mistake was posting this on BF. I don't know how you rectify this situation with any kind of brake pad.

Just remember if you want to keep the orange orange, you'll have to bust out moar skiddzzz

I knew my setup is exactly ideal, but for my first fixed gear on a budget I got what I could on craigslist and such. So no need to say why did you not get a machined rim and stuff I know it isn't the 100% setup. I'm just trying to get what is there working best for what I need right now. Thanks for some constructive input thought, but does anyone know the brake pad that would fit my shimano tiagra?
