But that little bike seems like an awesome project but expensive. I've learned to never ask a man, "How did you get that?". You may not want to know. |
Gross.

Wow... overkill. But however, instead of my usual envy of overkill, I get a sickening feeling instead.

By the way, the wheels are $3,500.

It's the helmet that really kills it for me. If it were just the bike it'd be one thing but come on do you really need a tt aero helmet?

Figure that it might be hard on the kid to show up for what looks like a friendly race looking like an alien.

Anybody have a make and model on the wheelset? I just shat a brick out cause of this^, if that's the case, the kid's sporting wheels that are double the price of my tempest ii carbon's on my orbea orca roadie. =S |
I loled and moved on, it's really nothing to get worked up over. If you're getting your panties in a bunch over this then I suggest you don't start getting into road racing because you'll just **** yourself over all the 13 year olds riding something like a Pinarello Prince.

I think the picture is unappealing not because people can't spend money how they want, but because it gives off a sense of excess and being overprivileged, neither of which are good things to instill in a young child.
By doing this, the emphasis is less on the ride and more on the equipment, which is especially silly considering how the child will outgrow the equipment within a few years. If I had that much money to burn, I'd rather just buy a nice kid's bike and take the kid to a cool bike friendly place for vacation or something. My two cents. |
I used to play hockey and I got all my equipment at play-it-again sports (used stuff). Kids on other teams and my team would have a stick that cost more than all my gear combined. Didn't bum me out one bit. If anything it made them look silly when I could out-skate them or out-shoot them (thats not to say I was better than everyone, 'cause I wasn't). If I was in that race i would have blown my knees out trying to beat that girl lol.
EDIT: Also, I'd like to mention that if her and her parents have the humility to congratulate the winner (if it wasn't her) than I have absolutely nothing but respect for their accomplishments and feel they should spend their money on what ever they please. |

I really, really mean this. It's not your business what people do with their money and for their children. |
This thread has absolutely nothing to do with SSFG and will most likely only be a breeding ground for argument.
