These pedals/strap como?
Whats up dudes and dudette's. Wanted to now if anyone is running this budget setup? http://www.rei.com/product/788129?pr...:referralID=NA I don't know weather to go the platform then really good straps that cost as much as that combo or if that will be good enough. Didn't see these ones come up in other platform/strap threads.

I had PowerGrips for a while and liked them quite a bit until I realized they made my feet fall asleep on long rides but I've got really wide feet like platypus flippers. My wife has a set on one of her beaters and likes them. If you've got small feet (to match that teeny-tiny Leader) you may dig 'em.

Most people find the new hold fast style straps to be similar but a major improvement on the powergrips.

Errr a bit off topic but I just realized those are the exact same pedals minus the power grips decal, that came stock with my kona paddywagon lolz

haha k thanks guys.

I have power grips, but just switched them out for clips and straps on my beater conversion. They are pretty good for the budget, and if you are trying to minimize toe overlap, they work.
I would go to clips though. And if you really just want a strap, get holdfast |
My feet hurt every time I see those things. I know a couple people who swear by them, none ride more than 5 miles at a time.

I've ridden powergrip straps, here's what I think:
Pro's: *affordable *you can make them really tight *easy to take foot out of pedal in a slow fall situation *no clip means you can position your foot in any way you like and adjust the strap that way *excess strap hanging off the bottom of the pedal can act as an audible pedal strike warning. if you hear it, you're getting close Con's *if they're really tight, your foot will fall asleep or get sore *to adjust the strap, you have to unscrew an allen bolt. It's trial and error whether both will be even *different shoes have different sole thicknesses. again, straps are a pain to adjust *people have stripped the threads for the strap adjustment bolts and bent the straps hardware *they look fugly |
