Please help w. details on Bianchi track frame

Hi All,

I have a few questions on the frame i have and was hoping somebody could help.
it is a 1989 Bianchi Reparto Corse track frame. Stickers say "Mega PRO-L Lite Steel" and "Exclusive Set Lite Steel 25CrMo4..." also "Bianchi Reparto corse Handmade"
Lower tube is changing shape from round at headset to triangulized to oval at the bb.
It came with Campagnolo Record hedset and BB as well as Campy drop outs.

So, from what i have been able to find online, i conclude that it is a actual "Reparto Corse", as it is 1989 (serial 55G389) when RC stickers were not put on almost anythy frame like in the 1995-1998 period. Also, i read that these were allegedly better than regilar "Pista" model of the era. And that BB and headset were Campy Record and were coming with the frame.

What i want to know is:
1) were these sold as complete bikes or only as framesets?
2) where can i find catalog for this frame ( i searched a few sites, but no luck) or any other info from trustworth resource.

I would like to build it up as close to how it would be build up in 1989 as possible...

If any one could help, i would very much appreciate it.

Weren't Bianchi's serial numbers generated by the old drunk camped out by the factory toilet? I seem to remember they could pretty random at times.

Yes, photos would be good, if only to have something to look at.

Yeah, serial number is sort of too short compared to oher bikes' serial numbers.

If you post this in C&V to get better responses. Half the posts in this forum are "I just bought a new bike so what should I change?"

I'm far from being a Bianchi fan boy but that certainly looks like a frame worth building up into a nice bike. I agree with prooftheory, put it in c&v as well, we do have vintage fans here (paging TT) but there's no harm in doubling your options.

There 's a forum member named bianchigirl, a fountain of knowledge on all things Bianchi. She might even have catalogs from that era. Good luck.

Have you tried looking @ bianchi catalogs?

Also, I don't think that's from the 80's. Late 90's/ early early 2000's from the looks of the stripes and "mega pro L" decals.
