Hey, I know most of these people that have commented on the bike either have not ridden this bike or just looked at the price and came up with a solution that this bike must suck. And for that person who said his neighbor only rode it for 4 months and put it in his garage to let it collect dust; he must be either really fat or did not have enough passion for bicycles. I honestly love this bicycle, and as a person who has ridden it for over 2 years, and learning so much about bicycles, it is one of those good investments if you are a beginner. Yes I did a lot of upgrades to it, like adding in my favor of drop handlebars, saddle, brakes, tires, but the frame is still as strong. The frame is in fact steel (Cro-Mo) which most of the people consider "cheap" which is true, but they also say it's "weak" where they are wrong. Steel is one of the frames from DECADES that are known to do it's job, especially cro-mo steel is one of the strong steels. Go ride a carbon frame on broken streets of new york, let's see how well you keep up with it. here is my pedalroom page: http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/cro-mo-steel-4690 check the bike out for yourself, 2 years and still in perfect condition. And as for the person who just bought it, congratulations, all i can say is, change the tires in the future. The tires ware out very quickly and they do not handle 100 psi, I had bubbles coming out from edges. Get new tires and you are good to go. On another point, I am sad to take my vilano apart but I just ordered a new frame, and trust me, right now i am scared the new frame might not live up to the expectations the vilano frame did. Hopefully it's a good investment, or else I will switch back to my vilano frame hopefully to repaint it in future with a dark grey matte color. TAKE CARE!

+1 on Vilano; fun bike to ride around town. Not "high end", but that's not why I bought it. I'd say it has no defects and appears to be solid and reliable. I replaced the brake levers with <$20 cheap Shimanos.

I also rebuilt the wheel hubs with white lithium grease. The feel of the bike improved by doing just these two things. I'm planning on upgrading the grease the bottom bracket soon too.

100 psi is plenty for a bike like this. There should be enough safety margin for these tires not to fail (bubbles) even at 110 or 120 psi unless the fabric under the rubber is defective or damaged.

A huge chunk of the people on here ride chromoly frames. Its really not cheap, its pretty strong, and its very common and popular.
