leader 735tt seat post

So a friend of mine bought this frame off some guy on craigslist. At the time the seat post was stable and wouldn't twist around, but I noticed that the seat clamp was installed at a slant, so I took it off and put it back on straight. When I put it on the correct way, the seat post was loose and would allow the seat to spin around in a circle.

My buddy contacted leader and they said that they didn't have any replacement seat posts because they were back ordered. I figure this means "sorry, we don't want to fix it right now."

Since it's seat tube isn't the standard round 27.2mm, I don't know where to find a replacement seat clamp. Does anyone know where I can get one or how I can fix it? I tried just sticking cardboard in the seat tube to wedge the post, but that didn't fix it for long. Ideas?

Leader's customer service department is known for being pretty awesome. I don't think they'd pull your chain like that.

FYI - a batch of third generation (2007 I believe) 735tts were accidentally made using a seat tube with the wrong specs and Leader decided to offer them at a greatly reduced cost. Although it had more to do with the position of the rear-wheel cutout, it may have something to do with the clamp too. I know they've since improved the clamp mechanism. How much did he pay for it?

He said he called leader and emailed them a couple times with no real response. Or at least no resolution. Just the whole back ordered deal.

it was 460 for everything but the wheels and pedals. overpaid? lol

If he's been trying over the past few days, a lot of those guys have been gone all week for Interbike. Fron their website, posted on Sept 14th:

"The Leader Bike office will be closed from Tue (9/21) and re-opening Monday (9/27) for Interbike in Las Vegas. We will still be receiving emails, but if there is a delay in response, this is why"

If they're saying those seatposts are backordered, my guess is that they are backordered.
