Coaster Brake 700c wheelsets!

hey wats up ;p

im in the process of building up a mixte frame for my lady, and thinking of purchasing a 700c sized coaster brake wheelset for the build. cleans it up while allowing her ease of use (she is used to coaster brakes)...

anywho, i have actually done research before spamming you guys and this forum, and so far i have noticed a few sellers on ebay ie velomine and junkyrustybikes selling affordable 700c coaster brake wheelsets....

(now for questions)
1. anybody else know of any other reputable sellers selling these type of wheelsets?
2. Does anyone know if the cog on a coaster brake hub can be changed out with track cogs? are they simply track cogs and a lockring, or are coaster brake cogs different?
3. Now i know this is SSFG, buuut....does anyone know if there is a seller out there with 2 speed or 3 speed kick back coaster brake 700c wheelsets?

thanks in advance for any help!

Coaster cogs are not the same as track cogs. Most are hub specific. Other sellers? Custom wheel builders cover question 1 n' 3.

thanks for answering question 2.

by chance do you (or anyone else) know of any pre-built options for questions 1 and/or 3?

to my knowledge, there aren't any 3 speed kickback hubs. For 2 speeds, you have to track down an old Bendix. I've heard rumours that Sturmey Archer is coming out with one, but details escape me at the moment

I recommend once you find a hub that you are happy with and settle on a cog size, get the cog welded to the splined cone. I've spun a lot of coaster cogs in my day and will not put up with it.

Then looseball the entire hub and repack with quality grease. It will spin very, very nice after that.

thanks for the help guys.

been talking to ben at velomine, think i am going with the black weinmann coaster brake wheelset they have. He also said he has an extra cog for 5 bucks more, so i will have a 16t and a 18t for my GF to figure out what kind of ratio she would prefer.

and although im not sure if i will get to welding the coaster cog (do not have access) i definitely will repack the hub with some phil wood grease
