Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? JD, just curious.....why are you using that tube to secure your saddle when you have no quick release on it?

seems to me that having to unscrew the seatpost is enough of a deterrent for the average opportunistic type criminal. The professional criminals who have a screw driver with them are also likely to have scissors and chain cutters with them which make the tube moot.

my guess is there's a length of old bicycle chain in the strip of old tube, it's a good method

Yup... it's a chain in a strip of tube, right on soyboy.. It's just to discourage thieves.. I try to do that as much as I can.

Oh yeah, my '85 Ventoux (R.I.P. as of last week)

Sad to see it go, been with me since '88. Cracked/repaired right CS 5 yrs ago, left side just went last week....the 5 mile dirt road DH on its final ride probably didn't help.

This makes me sad and excited at the same time. Waiting on my new track frame from Waterford. It's "egg shell" white. Oooooh!

Why would you need to deter thieves if your bike never leaves the garage? Judging by the bright white tires without a speck of dust on them lol.

The Vilano I bought comes in white, I was after that in the first place, but they were sold out & waiting on the next order. I didn't want to wait a couple/few weeks so I wound up just getting a black one. Nice looking bikes.
