I usually use a plain old MEC backpack, super basic one from the early 90's. I got it when I was in kindergarden and am still using it.
I also have a bigger black diamond pack for when i need to carry lots. I really dont like messenger bags, I have used a couple crumpler ones and a Manhattan Portage, but I still prefer my backpack. |

My trusty backpack is the Northface Recon.
http://www.neverstopexploring.cc/ima...ht%20green.JPG Although I love it, I'm looking for something with a little bit better function to accommodate my camera + equipment. Also can't say it's VERY comfortable when riding with a bit of weight. Anyone have any experience with a good messenger style bag and an SLR size camera & more? Found this messenger bag by Freshjive on sale. just in case it suits anyone on here. http://www.karmaloop.com/vendor/FRE/...-ablkzoom1.jpg http://www.karmaloop.com/products.as...VendorCode=FRE You can never have enough packs. Peace. |
MEC 40L messenger bag. Hurts my shoulder loaded up, low sweat factor.
SAG Megatron backpack. Lovely backpack. A little warm. I only use a backpack when it's cold anyway. |

I have a five year old AMPAC that I got for $25 at an army surplus type place. It's between a Citizen and a Mini Metro in size. I want something around the size of a Metropolis or the old Kremlin, as I'm a big guy and I carry a uniform and a knife roll (I'm a cook) back and forth from work every day. The current bag wasn't up for replacement until I got hit by a car. Now one end of the strap is about to fall off.

Can anyone suggest me a cheap good little backpack?

I can suggest the Ogio Fugitive. It's cheap, good, little, light, padded, has sternum strap, has mesh side pockets I can reach while riding (e.g. to stuff gloves, sleeves, hat into). The place where the shoulder straps attach at the bottom is nice and wide, so it's stable on your lower back. Hard to explain, but hopefully the pic shows what I mean.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=172815 The design has changed a little since I got mine, but I think it's still a good choice for the price. |
got myselft aquaknot 1200 several weeks ago. so far its good. and its dirt cheap compared to chrome, ortlieb, mw and others. i can say nothing about durability though. we'll see

My only gripe with this bag is that the carrying strap on top tore off and I wish I had purchased the grey model. It's a Manhattan Portage Ballistic Backpack |

I ride with that too! It's either that or my Timbuk 2 - Medium. Great for 15 hours on campus... Packs me books, laptop, shoes, lunch, and locks.

It's a surprisingly large bag. I use it a lot for getting groceries because it distributes really big loads better than my new Chrome does. I don't know if I would pay $40 + $15 shipping for it, though.

i like my bags okay but i don't love them. i should sell my timbuk2 and large kemmer for a vandal or rummy.
