ebay

what's the best bike component deal you've ever scored on ebay? just curious.
i've been putting time in trying to score some components on the cheap. obviously, you end up with a slight more mix/match bike.

i'm really counting on scoring a good saddle on the cheap someday, no success yet. just curious if anyone had a good win.

I used to score some high end track parts for good deals but now that the scene is so big the deals are practically non existent.

Ive got something that I bid on and will be watching for the next couple days, but I'm not ready to make that known to every other FG junkie on the forum just yet.

There have been quite a few eBay scores but my Madison frameset for 110 bucks shipped was one of my best finds.

I'm terrible at eBay. Haha.

The last thing I bought on eBay was my SLR saddle.

Looking for some stems and seat posts now.

I scored a sweet vintage Coogi sweater for $30 shipped. So excited to dawn it on our first chilly fall day.

I've found that old clothing/kits are easier to score deals on than parts as far as ebay goes. I got a sweet subaru montgomery cycling cap for $5

it's pretty hard to buy stuff cheap on ebay when you need it, i normally but bike parts i like or think i will eventually need when they go for cheap. got a lot of good deals but never was desperate for a special part and cold not wait....then i either hang them on the wall or sell them for profit on craigslist

Been a while. Most things I've been eyeballing have skyrocketed in price lately. Scored some choice Dura Ace components, not the most killer deal, but impossible to find locally. My LBS does full retail on the DA. Come on, $130 chainring? Nah, I'm not taking that drive-her-off-the-lot value decline.

Oh, and my sales have been going down. Go figure.

I use eBay mostly to buy tubular tires for typically less than 1/2 lbs or online store price. I buy only in auctions with no reserve and low starting price, typically from private sellers. I've saved a little bit buying bike components, but buy most of my stuff from reliable online vendors like Ben's Cycle, Universal Cycles and World Class Cycles, who usually discount significantly. I use BIN on eBay only if there's something I need that I can't find anywhere else like an oddball 27.4mm Kalloy seatpost for my VISP. I probably buy about 10% of my bike stuff from an lbs.

pretty much brand new Airone for $31, Pake frameset for $127, Selle Italia Campionissimo (such beauty) for $51 shipped from the netherlands, the list could go on for days, total ebay junkie here.

I think the best deal eveeeer was a pair of snakeskin/pink patent leather Prada heels I got for my girlfriend for $40, she lost it when I gave them to her. they were like $600 new.

I ebayed a SRAM RED group for <$800. Bought it one part at a time. It was all new or takeoffs. I set my one personal bid limit and didn't bid above that. It took a few weeks but eventually paid off.

I'm jealous; think it's still doable?

My best ebay score was a keytar for 1 penny. Shipping was another story; $8 w/o insurance...

Probably not, but its still possible to get way under retail. Bid once at the end the maximum amount you are willing to pay. If you don't get it, move on. The trick is not to loose your patience...when that happens you start to bid higher.

I suppose technically the best deal I ever found on eBay was when Cane Creek had a blowout sale of their carbon track wheels, and I picked up a set that retailed for $1600 for only $500. After that, I picked up another rear wheel for only $200. It was a straight up BIN sale, which was a good thing cuz had they sold them in open auction, no doubt they would have sold for a lot more. I was half thinking of buying several extra sets and then flipping them for a big profit.

Remember this sale. I was hoping so bad that they would have a wheel left by the friday I got paid but nope.
