wtf? MKS strapless clips?!

Spotted these in bargain bin and had to buy them. Look like your average clips minus strap, but with neat leather reinforced front section. Anyone with experience? Will I finally top myself riding fixie with these?

I don't know about the clips but I would like to commend you on your english. You really do speak (or write anyway) the language well. In fact I would say that you know the language better than some of the people that grew up in the USA. I am impressed. It's hard enough to get people to speak their own language well over here.

I'm probably wrong...just read Sheldon Brown' site and he has some Christophe #45 Resin Strapless Toe Clips with the following description:

These just cover the toes, no provision for straps. Don't know why anybody would want these silly things, but we've got 'em.

Do they look something like this but metal? These ones are made by Zefal I believe.

The holes in the tops are for straps, the only difference between those and the clips you probably all have are the leather covers to protect your shoes.

Sheesh. The clips are really only there to hold open your straps so you can get your feet in. It's the straps that give you the ability to pull on the pedals. Haven't you noticed how flexy the clips are (even steel ones)? Try riding with just clips and no straps and see if you can get any kind of pull on the upstroke.

yeah, exactly the same, minus the strap holes. I tired them last night, and can tell that they are sort of a bad idea. You can skid with them, but there is a terrible one second delay as cages bend...

my fine command of English comes from misspent student days in the UK... almost five years of heavy smoking and listening to crap bands, mainly :D

And just how could that be considered misspent?
