threadless to threaded stem question
Just wondering what is the process to convert from a threadless 1" steerer to become 1" threaded. If I simply just replace the threadless headset with a threaded headset then I can use threaded quill stems? Or do I need to change other things. Thanks.

that and the fork has to be replaced with the corresponding type.

its just aesthetic - there are probably zero reasons i can think of that make quill stems more practical/higher in performance.
but answering your question, since aesthetics is important nonetheless have the lbs thread your fork, and get a threaded headset |

Again, most shops are willing to chase threads for you but not many will actually cut new ones for you...

Threaded forks are pretty cheap and easy to be had. I got one for $35 from my shop after a collision a while back.

threading a previously unthreaded fork is a somewhat risky proposition, and one that many bike shops are unwilling to take on. Buy a new fork, or better yet, stop caring about your bikes looks and don't spend all this money on an impractical 'upgrade'

But but but but then I can't use my NJS headset and stem...
