Hipster Christian Vegan Bike Builders -- strike again!

http://austin.craigslist.org/bik/1998523812.html

I had no idea hipster christians were so pervasive, but after reading about them on the Bike Snob blog, I ran into this craigslist ad, which just confirms the growing cross-pollination between all things hipster and the Lord. Oh, and vegan. My favorite part of their site is the bands page which says "Christ Cycles sponsors bands that share its love for fun, bikes, and God." Which reminds me that there's nothing in the Bible about the dangers of downing a case of PBRs while attempting to perfect your elephant trunk skids and eating some high quality vegan cupcakes. Do it for the Lord!!!! :thumb:

Will they sell me one if I'm 100% carnivorous?

xavier853 10-10-10 09:09 AM

Tec 9 wheels and crankset, frames look identical in geometry to my Vilano. Even the headset with the carbon spacer rings, those are Neco. Same vader style saddle & brakes on some of them too. Good for them, hope they make it considering the economy is in a jobless recovery ?

Damn when you said "strikes again" I thought there was something new. Like they were putting out an aluminum track frame or something.

You only eat meat? Are you on Atkins? I had a friend's dad die on Atkins (I'm not joking).

cal_gundert05 10-10-10 11:02 AM

I just saw an ad by the same people on NYC craigslist.

CardiacKid 10-10-10 11:08 AM

Why is it that I would be more trusting of someone who advertised they were omnivorous agnostics? Oh, I know. You know they are telling the truth.

If they did you'd probably eat your newly gotten prey of a bike.

On that note; a friend recently asked me about the new "limited edition" cromo bike from republic.... I mean seriously, when did cromo become limited?!?!? :roflmao2:

I'm pretty sure a vegan has died before too.

There was that vegan couple that killed their child by raising it vegan with only feeding it like apple sauce and water....

PedallingATX 10-10-10 12:30 PM

no, vegans never die. unfortunately, they live forever to spoil dinner parties and act pretentious

benbike 10-10-10 12:50 PM

Not sure they can compete with the carnivorous heathens at BD>

I saw a show on tv titled "i heart hipsters." Various bits included how to take pictures correctly by always shooting from the hip, and a large religious hipster organization based out of a thrift store.

MrJay 10-10-10 02:02 PM

Yeah, they're based here in Richmond I believe.

My friend just purchased a bike from them.

It seems they've raised the prices a little bit (I thought they were $250 but maybe I was mistaken).

Most of the girls I see riding the ChristCycles bikes around town are pretty hot..but I don't know how appropriate it would be to compliment them on their hotness. Especially while I'm eating a McDonalds Triple Cheeseburger.

They're pretty popular around campus; maybe because they're local.

I see the owner riding around quite a bit too. I always thought it was funny that he didn't ride one of his own bikes. He seems like a cool guy tho. Kinda on the "bro" side of hipster tho....

rustybrown 10-10-10 06:41 PM

Shizzz...they sponsor? Ima on dat.

I've wanted to be a hipster but could never qualify in the under-135lbs requirement. And I've never owned an iPod.

Here's how. Just drop a few of these gems into a conversation:

"Hey, tell me about being vegan."
"I want to change...I just don't know how. Will you help me."
"I get weak for hamburgers late at night. Will you come over and help me be strong?"
"Don't worry...Jesus drank wine all the time. It's OK. Let me refill your glass..."
"I'm so confused...but this feels so right."
"Sure...I'll go to church with you in the morning."

seventythree 10-10-10 08:45 PM

If I buy one of these bikes will "sad" girl in the CL ad smile?

It looks as if she's about to roll herself and her rig in front of an 18 wheeler.

FunkyStickman 10-10-10 08:45 PM

Just... wow.

Strangely enough, I'm a Christian, and practically a vegetarian (not vegan, and strictly for health reasons) and I love bikes... but this has no appeal to me whatsoever. I guess I'm not hipster enough. Maybe I need tatts, skinny pants, and gaged ears. Meh.

carleton 10-10-10 08:47 PM

By the way, I'm pretty sure Jesus wasn't vegan. I mean, the dude did feed fish to 9,000 folks.

benbike 10-10-10 08:56 PM

carleton knows how to get laid.

Jesus wasn't vegan. He hasn't seen the light.

Uh oh. This could get ugly. I completely agree with you, but you didn't hear that from me! Yikes
