Is it just me or is the mercier kilo tt stock wheelset not as bad as everyone says? I run a b43 on the rear and the stock front. It is pretty light and feels pretty durable.

But, i noticed that it doesnt spin smoothly, when i spin it in my hands it feels kind of rough and "bumpy", its hard to describe bot its just not smooth. Would the local bike shop charge alot to fix this? Or do i just need time to break it in (switched my other b43 out for this wheel so probably used for only 1 month)?

But other than this problem the stock front wheel seems to be doing fine. thanks for the help!

The problem is that the bearings in the hub have to be adjusted, and as it comes from bd, it's probably way too tight. However, the bearings are not very good in those hubs, so you have to compromise between a little bit of roughness and a little bit of looseness. You can adjust them yourself, but you will need a couple of 13mm cone wrenches for the front and 15mm for the rear. This is why it's better to pay a little more, and get a Kilo TT Pro, which has better sealed cartridge bearing hubs that do not require adjustment.

You wont notice it.

Honestly. unless your timing your self for every milisecond.

But then there is a pothole that you didnt see last time. And now your control test is messed up. You wont notice it til your on the track. holling balls.

ok thanks i was just confused about performance might be affected since people always emphasize how smooth their wheel runs..
il take it to the lbs and see if they can adjust it for me really quick

Its farily simple. Go to the bikeshop tell em to teach you. Pretty much loosen outside 15mm lock ring and then tighten or loose the 13 cone's I do it with my finger tips.... The mm lock ring i knock out with my pedal wrench and then the 13 i just wigle my axle a little and i can loosen it a hair every time i wigle it till it loosens a hole lot. But go to the LBS for shure.

If your cones are not adjusted properly, you will pit the race of the hub; however, if a set of loose ball hubs will spin extremely smooth if adjusted properly.

ok does anyone know an estimate of how much a lbs will charge to adjust it?

It shouldn't cost more than $10.

You should learn to do it yourself though, if you're going to ride a lot in rain/snow, you will need to learn how to repack your hub every once in awhile.

Spend the money on some tools, check out park tools website and do it yourself.
