cruiser bars!
Hey all.......
Have any of you ever tried flipping over old cruiser bars for your fix? It's like bullhorns with style! I just did it yesterday and they are seriously the most comfortable bars I've ever had. And seeing how there are abandoned cruisers all over New York City, cruiser bars aren't that hard to come by around here. I recommend it for anyone! |
Pointing forward or back?

pointing forward, with a little bit of an upward pitch.....

I had my fixie set up with Brit Roadster bars for a little while. Comfy way to cruise. Then turned them upside down for an old look: must faster overall, but they don't work all that well with my current stem dimensions (hands to close to knees)

i have some old moustache style cruiser bars on my peugeot, but i have them drooping down and pointing towards me. i love them this way. i don't have a picture though...

"Cruiser Bars", "Moustache Bars" ... I warned you kids to stay away from them places.

That's the way I like mine, very stylish and comfy! Check out the FGG link

I've never really found cruiser bars that would really seem good like this. I have seen (and done) cruiser bars upside down and pointing to the rear. Kinda like this:
http://www.63xc.com/gaansari/zmgaan.jpg http://www.63xc.com/scorcher/zmnakash.jpg Thing is, most "cruiser" bars i've come across flare outward at the ends. Doesn't this seem akward when they're oriented toward the front like bullhorns? Wald makes a inexpensive cruiser handlebar with the grip area almost parallel. Very similar to these Nittos: http://www.bikecult.com/works/parts/nittoB602a.jpg But not enough, IMO. These other Nittos seem interesting: http://www.bikecult.com/works/parts/nittoB601a.jpg http://www.bikecult.com/works/parts/nittoB617a.jpg http://www.bikecult.com/works/parts/nittoB603a.jpg I think my favorites are still regular old Wald North Road bars. Oriented in the "normal" way, like these: http://harriscyclery.net/merchant/37...ttonorthrd.jpg |
Does anyone know who makes the bars that Van Dessel uses? They're flat and end parallel. Can't say as how they look good to me, but they do fit the criteria. You can sort of see here: http://www.vandesselsports.com/b_st_X7.shtml
