Bike Stolen

Just had my blue fixed gear Peugeot U0-8 stolen from in front of my house. It's got untaped chrome bullhorns, a black seat, a blue chain, and a brake with neon cable housing on the seatpost. They left a red flashlight on my lawn, which I'll use to beat their ****ing skull in if I find them.

Edit: for further identification, it has a black specialized front wheel and a silver sta-tru rear wheel.

That sucks. I bet you there are fingerprints on that flashlight. It might be worth a shot.

Ask around your neighbours to see if they saw anything. Your bike sounds pretty recognizable and I'm sure your friends will spot it if they saw it.

March around the neighbourhood for a bit if you could.

@Ann.Occupanther: Very interesting style of photography, I like it a lot.

when my wifes bike was stolen a few months back, i start circling our neighborhood in concentric circles.

two blocks away, directly east, saw two kids "working on bikes" in their front yard.. one of them my wifes.

so, theefs are dumb.. circle your block, and peak around as much as you can (maybe your dumb ass theefs will be smart enuf to "work on bikes" in their back yard)

the longer you wait to search, the more chance it'll be gone for ever :(

i was lucky that my wife bikes to our bakery early, so they musta grabbed it only a few hours prior.

GOOD LUCK!

i already scanned around the block and checked the closest apartment complexes. the problem is it's pitch black outside. i live in a small town, hopefully it will turn up.

problem is i've already picked it up and handled it. we own a similar one and i thought it might have gotten left outside.

Yup; a NY chain is way better way to bash in the perp's skull in with.

Davis sucks for bike theft. My brother just had his rear wheel stolen in Davis. Sorry about your bike.

TejanoTrackie 11-04-10 09:17 AM

OK, so you left your bike in front of your house at night and it got stolen. Lesson learned, right? The last time I had a bike stolen it was 40 years ago when I was in college, and since then I've taken the simple precautions of bringing my bike inside my home or keeping it locked when it is out of sight during the day. I also record the frame serial number and even engrave my initials on expensive race wheels.

Also, there is a Stolen Bike stickie thread where you could have posted this.

I'd check everywhere within a couple blocks, probably close to the nearest stoplights/signs, I'm guessing that since you stated that you are in a small town, the thief had no idea how a fixed wheel works and ended up ditching the bike as soon as they tried to stop.....

just realized your location is Davis... isn't that a big town?

ianjk 11-04-10 09:51 AM

Also, did you lock up nightly in the same place? That is huge, especially if it is visible from the street.

xavier853 11-04-10 09:54 AM

my bikes go inside the house for this very reason. and if they are really good, they even get to sleep on the bed.

although, when its business time, they have to go in the other room ;)

Sorry about your bike bro. I would be very said if my UO8 was stolen. I ride a White UO8 in the vinter

Davis is a college town (UC-Davis) just west of Sacramento on I-80. Population is about 64,000.
