What have we learned?
Riding fixed is definatly a mentality thing, and changes peoples lives. What's the most important life lesson you've learned from your bike?
I think mine is that you always need to keep moving and pedaling. You try to go against the flow and you're going to get bucked. When that happens, you need to get back on the bike and ride. |
since starting fixed about a week ago. i have learned that freewheeling is just pointless. and i feel stronger now that i cant freewheel.
ive also learnt that you have to be more aware of everything going on. most of all ive learnt that its fun. |
well i dont know if ive learnt anything, while not riding a bike..

I have learned that I have an addiction.
Hello, my name is 165 and I am a trackaholic. |
I've learned to be careful when stopping at a high school soccer game because young girls will approach me not realising that my bike is 10 years older than them and that I am 5 years older than my bike. I could've been a contender (if I weren't so damn old.)

Riding fixed makes you a better lover.

Some people sniff their seats.
|
that some people just don't get it.

Since going fixed I have learned to do all of my own repair work, short of wheel building.
|
Maybe, but I always aspire to getting dirtier.
|
for some reason i always thought that MKRG was female. hmmm...
anyway, i've come to realize that coasting is inefficient/boring/doesn't feel as good as spinning. even when i ride a freewheeled bike now, i spin pretty much constantly. |

Learned to keep moving and be aware.

I've learned many things since going with an SS mtb and a fixed road conversion...
1. When in the company of geared riders, you will always be on the defensive as to why you ride SS/fixed and no matter how many times you try to explain it, they just don't understand. 2. Momentum is your friend, especially when tackling that next hill. 3. Working on your own bike makes you appreciate how everything works together. 4. It's all about "the flow" whether it's between rocks, roots and switchbacks, or cabbies, buses and yellow lights. 5. I'm developing a fixed sense (Šlucklust, 2004;)) |
A tired old geared bike can become a real sweet ride as fixed, me I like the silence and mechanical simplicity as well as the hard excercise these bikes give
|
Those who get it, get it.
Those who don't, can't catch us. |
I've learned that HereNT is a big sap or drunk. Maybe both.
|
for some reason i always thought that MKRG was female. hmmm... Just kidding. Actually I am a male. In fact I am the epitome of manliness. Testosterone seeps from every pore. I am the Marlboro Man, Fabio and Mel Gibson rolled into one hunky package. When I walk down the street women swoon midsentence. |

Yeah, true enough. But on the internet reality doesn't really matter so much.

What ya' don't know won't kill ya'. That is a saying isn't it?
|
I've learned that it doesn't matter how much you spend on a bike, it's still fun.
I've also learned that I should always have a backup braking mechanism. I've learned that chicks dig a guy on fixie. I've learned humility. |
