ive chopped an inch off the ends before, but left enough of the "pointey up" bit to keep the hands from sliding off. less protrusive and "hookey"....looked a little nicer too. although chopping bullhorns there is a little much.

If you have crappy bars and wanna chop em, go for it. I just forked up $60 and bought 38cm nitto rb-021s. They're narrow, fast and you don't need to chop them. I have a friend here who chopped his but I don't see the point. The parts that go up are meant to be used.
I know why TT and Tri guys do it, but no clue why this guy did it. For TT/Tri you are almost never on the base-bars and so its not important to have an upturn (which has a bigger footprint in the wind)....

he got them in anodized red, brah.
i dont like the shape of rb21s
i run rb18's now. |
They're not faster. Wrong wording there. They just feel more responsive for the kind of riding I do. But then again, I was riding drops before these. I'll never ride track drops on the street again.

Yeah I'm probably going to buy my new bullhorns tomorrow. Anyone know where I can buy some profile airwings in NYC?
Lovin the older pista in the back :D
Yeah it's my wifes bike. It's a size too big for her but we got it for an absolute steal. It just needed a new headset!
I had a pair of these; I chopped a Nitto RB-021 down like this. I did a 60 mile ride on bars like these and they were very comfortable.. Also if you flip them over you have townie bars! Admittedly I used the pursuit bars more for a townie situation and I loved em for it.
I had some Syntace Stratos that I chopped. Made sense when I had a bar end shifter, but I lost the aero position.
My chopped and flipped Nitto RB-021 are so damn comfy.
