Poll: Black Parts vs Silver Parts

I am having quite the dilemma with my bike parts.

Currently, I have an SRAM S300 Black crankset, and a Black Thomson Seatpost. I have since sold my kilo frame, and the black components do not look good on the Madison.

Do I keep the black parts, in hopes that I will one day find a nice frame for them?

Do I Sell/Trade the black parts for silver, and put the nicer components on the Madison?

Do I live with what I have, and sell everything else so they stop haunting me?

P.S: I will be stripping the Madison of its paint (scuffed up beyond belief, and I have a few projects I want to try out on the frame), and since everything will be out and accessible, I am considering the swap to nicer, silver components.

I say get silver parts if you're not going to strip the paint.

BUT what do you plan to do after stripping the paint?

black components will look good on a chrome maddy. just hurry up and strip that paint. forget the component change. having swapped all my black for silver on my kilo(besides wheels) i would say don't, it's not worth it.

It might not stay chrome. I'm stripping the paint, then from there, the fiancée said she'll pick a wheelset (I showed her a few different ones, and she's going to choose from them) and depending on which ones she chooses, and if my projects work out I'll paint the bike (same color scheme, just different color)

So cc700, yes I agree, an all chrome maddy would look good with black components, but thats if it stays chrome...

GAHHHH! I have a feeling that once it is chrome, I'll think of the bike in a completely different way.

trade it or keep it in the spare parts bin.
you'll never know when you find your n+1 bike which wants black.

I feel as though you are talking about a person, as if you might feel different about her (Madison) after you've seen her nude but all you ever really wanted was a friend and not a partner of some sort.

I say keep the pretty dress on her and keep your black components for future use.

Lets just say she's looking into getting a name change, and a new pretty'ier dress... as you know, I have the tools to remake the logos out of vinyl, but what I do not know is if I can paint over them and then peel it off and have it turn out looking factory. if so, she's going to be one happy girl, and definitely worth "partner"ing with...if not, she'll be loved by someone else just the same.

I'm going to see what "she" looks like as all chrome, and if the black parts just work, then it will turn out to be one sweet ride. If not, I'll have had a lot of fun in the process.

Why go out of your way when you already have the parts? Stop worrying about the aesthetics it only makes you think you look cool

If you're considering trading them or trading + Cash, I'd just polish them. Polishing something from a black anodizing can be unusually satisfying, albeit time consuming.

Although, at that point, you may as well just trade out at least the seatpost (or buy a new one).

Also, is the seatpost diameter 26.8 or 27.2?

Because if it is the former, then it would not be wise to use it on a Madison.

haha yeah, I made that mistake...

The black parts would look great on the all chrome, but if I repaint it I am not sure exactly if it will turn out... Plus, I might just have someone whom will swap parts with me...soo, We'll see how it all turns out soon enough.

Thank you for all your help
